Is medication epilepsy treatment for children safe?

Medication through taking anti-epileptic drugs or anti-convulsant drugs is usually the first treatment option that can be given by the doctor after you child has been diagnosed with epilepsy. However, parents of children with epilepsy are very concern of the safety of these drugs. Medication as epilepsy treatment for children is safe, but, parents should expect that these drugs have side effects. Side effects may differ from one child with epilepsy to another child. To some children, side effects might be not too serious, while to some children, it can be severe. You should first ask your doctor about the side effects of the drug that he is prescribing and then decide if you want your child to take it.
